| For this supermarket, we proposed a building flooded in natural sunlight and ventilated naturally –unexpected traits for a supermarket. The lamps are lit only at night time and there is no air conditioning. Savings in operating costs are significant.
A metal structure facility was designed with a 36-meter span, wherein each structural component expresses its individual strength. If seen from below, it is clearly understood how the loads reach the ground.
The structure is highlighted by its red color which characterizes its internal space, usually trivial in this type of program. The design process began in May and the supermarket was inaugurated in the first week of December.
The design was developed concomitant with the building process. This fast-track operation demanded an unusual amount of attention, and many decisions were taken on site and explained with sketches and rough drafts.
The final construction cost per square meter was very reasonable and lower, in fact, to the competition’s buildings, which fail to consider architecture as a value or contribution to the city.
