A seven-story apartment building was designed for a small rectangular lot surrounded by upscale residences, with beautiful panoramic views in the distance.
The topic of volumetrics and height was a determining factor for the architecture. Volume was broached in segments (slices) making it less massive. The horizontal marquees and the brick bands for ventilation also segmented the vertical volumes. With a view to proposing free spaces in each floor, a central nucleus with surrounding curved walls was designed.
Behind the brick are functional lattices that permit the control of incoming air. This avoids the use of air conditioning, with the consequent savings in electricity.
The curves in the volume make the breezes flow, avoiding air disturbance. The sunshades on the flat roof reduce the effects of the sun and direct the wind upwards.
