Located 300 meters from downtown Escazú, a San José suburb, this building’s design has to be regarded from several perspectives:
- The tree as an element in favor of nature
- The function performed here: editorial
- The horizontal level of the lawn (landscaping). Its harmony with the street (the urban setting)
- Its light and textured skin (construction)
- Its split and light roofs (the suburb concept)
- Its spaces of shadows and sunlight, reflecting the sky’s state of mind (poetry).
This is how a space was designed where the eyes feast in many directions. Through the windows, from various angles, you can view the garden and an impressive tree that dwells there.
The view, ample and generous, finds its counterpart in the veiled gaze through the wooden sunshades.
The functional and the practical aspects, in conjunction with nature and its surroundings, are all combined in perfect harmony in this building.
Cement fiber board sheets were used for dry wall cladding, and novel methods were incorporated to join the different parts, such as the vertical tongue-and-groove method.
