The international company Microsoft entrusted us with the design of its Regional Office for Costa Rica. We were able to introduce a design with a proposal for Central America, in order to make a distinction between these offices and the standardized model applied by house style. The architects at the U.S. headquarters agreed and enthusiastically supported this proposal. The zoning of the area was introduced for the work stations to be separate from the executive offices. The design included several perforated walls painted in the colors of the Windows software program, to identify the areas and to separate the circulation in the work stations.
We were then commissioned to replicate the Costa Rican proposal for the Microsoft offices in El Salvador and Panama.
Some changes were introduced in El Salvador and Panama in order to adapt the design to certain requirements specific to each country. For instance, in the case of El Salvador, a decision was made to bring the cubicles closer to the façade to enable a greater number of employees to enjoy the view from the fifth floor and take advantage of the natural lighting. Private offices and conference rooms were moved to the area farthest from the façade.
Since these are offices built in a rented area, colors also change and must adapt to the surrounding buildings. The work stations are custom-made brand names, while the rest of the furniture, such as bookcases, sideboards and podium, are of our own design.
