This supermarket is the third one we have designed for the same supermarket chain, and is located in a suburb of Heredia in the Central Valley. The topography of the terrain was irregular and the access roads had variations in height of up to seven meters.

This situation determined the construction of a parking lot on top of which the supermarket was built. Heredia boasts some of the great paradigms of national heritage architecture, sometimes featuring details in exposed brick and front corridors facing the street. Mimicking the spirit of colonial constructions, this design was expressed in contemporary style.

Our previous and fruitful experience with the Automercado El Límite, with the application of bioclimatic architectural elements that allowed for ample, ventilated and naturally-lit surfaces, was an inspiration for the application of these concepts.

Energy savings, translated into monetary savings, are significant, and a peaceful environment is achieved. The selection of brick responds to the nobility of the material and the lack of maintenance required, the warmth of its color and the pleasant wall texture, in contrast to the lab-type glazed tile placed inside, which makes cleaning the premises an easy task. The access corridor with its elevated tiled roof, illuminated and fresh, is an invitation for friendly encounters and social gatherings, and is also the place to wait for the rain to subside, or linger in the shade to wait for your car.
