Xerox sold its building and the new owner requested the transformation of the warehouse into offices. Aimed at giving a purpose to the 2,000 m2 of office space, I proposed an indoor garden as source of light and well-being, and it was necessary to open windows and build mezzanines. Adding on to an existing structure is always a difficult task for an architect. There are background data and pre-established codes to consider. Unless the expansion is to be the actor, it should appear to be in congruence with the older section. When both parts have been designed by the same architect, this relationship, far from causing possible tension, may produce mutual support and respect. It becomes the an opportunity for furthering ideas with the knowledge of past experiences.

In the interior, the meeting room is a state-of-the-art video laboratory that modifies lighting conditions for the five types of lighting and color, and is prepared to project satellite images to meet the needs of the modern parameters that must satisfy international standards. Despite this impressive equipment, it is the natural invasion suggested from the other side of the glass that impresses and provides the room with character and charm. In bringing the vegetation inside this high-tech conference room, the sterile nature of technology is subdued.

The combination of the natural elements provides a sense of relaxation to its dwellers , while attenuating the austerity of the program. In the future, should I be asked to design a third building in the remaining lot, and it were to be joined to the other two, it would constitute a new challenge for an architecture that is in constant evolution. It would need to evolve through continuity, using the first two buildings as tradition for the third.
